Woodlands Charity Shop opened in March 2007 at 31 Bishopthorpe Road and hasn’t looked back since. The busy little parade develops many regular supporters drawn by the well-presented stock. Put aside your judgements of charity shops until you’ve been to Woodlands – it’s a great place to pick up a bargain and the best thing is…you never know what will be in stock.

The shop raises money for a locally based Respite Care Centre which provides day and residential respite care for people directly affected by multiple sclerosis. People come to stay at Woodlands for a week or two every few months or for the day, to enable their full time carers to get a well earned break.

The shop sells clothes and accessories like belts, scarves, handbags and shoes. The bric a brac can be anything from a set of mugs to a salt and pepper pot or a vase or some crockery. Books, DVDs, videos, cards, gift wrap, gift bags, children’s toys, jewellery, small electrical items….it’s all there. All donated goods are sorted, priced, and displayed by the volunteer staff, while all electrical items are PAT tested for safety.

By donating you are helping a local charity raise vital funds and doing a bit of recycling. Donating is easy – just hand the items to one of the friendly volunteers. There’s a car park at the back if you need it and Bishopthorpe Road Car Park if you need to spend time browsing or visiting other businesses on the parade.
