Ebor Fisheries has stood at the corner of Ebor Street and Bishy Road for over 100 years. The current owners, brother and sister Nick and Jackie have been at the helm for 7 years and uphold its fine tradition, abiding by the simple principle of maintaining high standards and producing top quality food.
Their secrets to good fish and chips are no more complicated than using fresh fish delivered every day, lightly coated in batter, and accompanied by chips made from locally grown potatoes delivered every week. Everything is fried in top quality beef dripping, something guaranteed to enhance flavour.
Customer testimonials usually praise the freshness of the fish and the melting sensation in the mouth. In fact, in March 2008 readers of the York Press voted Ebor Fisheries the best fish and chip shop in York, beating 7 rivals from the York, Selby and East Yorkshire area.
In October 2008 Jackie and Nick opened a 40 seat restaurant at the rear of the shop, creating a bright comfortable and relaxing space for customers to enjoy their meals.
Ebor Fisheries take seriously what they consider to be a duty to the community and to their customers, something reflected in the guaranteed warm smile you receive when you walk in.
