The St Leonard’s Hospice shop on Scarcroft Road trades wholly to raise funds for St Leonard’s Hospice. The Hospice, situated on Tadcaster Road, is an independent charity providing care and support for local people with life-threatening illnesses. We have an in-patient unit, daycare and Hospice@Home service. In this relaxed and friendly environment, every patient is recognised and treated as an individual. With our support, patients are able to enjoy the best possible quality of life. Our care also extends to support families and carers.
All of our care is free-of-charge to patients and their families, but not free to provide – and as a charity, we rely heavily on the generosity of the public, including donations of pre-used goods to be sold in our shops. It costs £4m to run the Hospice each year, and approximately £1m of this comes from public funding. This means we need to raise £3m every year.
St Leonard’s Hospice currently has eleven shops trading in and around York, including three furniture shops.
If you have donations you wish to give to our shops and are unable to deliver them, we do offer a collection service. For more information please telephone 01904 786190.
