I am a female Cambridge graduate with 10 years of recent teaching experience and a great love for education. Previously I was the Head of Religious and Social Studies at Malton Secondary School in North Yorkshire. I now offer private tuition in English, Religious Studies, Philosophy and Sociology, and my aim is to tailor teaching sessions expertly to the needs of each individual student.
I am up-to-date on the requirements of the new exam specifications that have just been introduced and have also worked as an examiner for AQA, so I understand exactly what examiners are looking for in students' answers. I have a great deal of experience in working with students with special educational needs, and you can be confident that I will address any such needs in a professional and sensitive manner.
I usually teach from my home in Southbank, although I am happy to come to your home if it is within reasonable travelling distance. I accept students from Key Stage 3 right through to GCSE and A-Level and this includes adults who may be studying for qualifications as a mature student.
If your child is struggling with the pace of lessons in school; or feeling lost on a particular topic; or simply can't organise and motivate themselves with homework; I can help to support and guide them in developing these skills for themselves. Equally, you may be an A-Level student who has missed some lessons and needs to catch up; or just wanting a couple of sessions of intense revision to build confidence and reassure yourself before exams begin.
Whatever your learning needs, I aim to strengthen your skills, improve your grades and most of all, help you enjoy the learning experience! My teaching style is friendly and relaxed, but I spend time in planning well structured and focussed activities, so that the time can be most effectively used.
I am fully DBS checked and I charge £25 an hour. I am mindful however, of the high cost of private tutition for parents and therefore I also offer tuition to small groups at a cost of £15 per student, up to a maximum of 3 students. This may be a good solution if you can find a friend who wants to come as well, and then the cost is significantly reduced for you both. Sometimes this can also make the experience more fun and less stressful for those students who prefer a bit of company!
Please do get in touch if you have any queries relating to my services or would like to book an initial session for tuition.
