Little Vikings is a magazine and website for families of 0 to 11 year olds visiting and living in York, founded and run by a local family on a mission to share all that's family-friendly about the city. We're always out and about with our own little Vikings, testing out things to do, places to eat, classes to try, and much more. We hope that other parents and carers will be inspired by our pick of the very best things to do with their kids in York and just beyond.
The Little Vikings magazine was launched in May 2014. It's a free, high-quality A5 publication that's published every two months. It contains a what's on guide, interesting features, ideas for days out, great competitions, restaurant reviews and a handy guide to the best places to go with young children.
The print-run is 15,000 and each issue is also available online free as an eBook, taking it to an even wider audience. We're working hard to make sure that the magazine is available at the places families visit in York, including schools, nurseries, cafes, restaurants, theatres, leisure centres, gyms, hotels, museums and shops. We’ve quickly become the go-to publication for parents looking for ideas to entertain their children in York, and feedback from businesses shows that our readers act on our recommendations. The pick-up rate is very high, and the magazine’s shelf-life is long.
The Little Vikings website - www.little-vikings.co.uk - is packed with up-to-date what's on information, reviews, previews and more, all relevant to families with young children. As well as giving insights into York's many visitor attractions and sights, you’ll also find details on where to go for soft-play and swimming, bowling and the cinema, adventure playgrounds and farm shops, parks and libraries. The weekly what's on guide, published every Sunday, is hugely popular (especially during the school holidays!).
